Batu Feringgi Beach, Penang
Country: Malaysia
Penang (Pinang) is an island that runs along the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, and the city by the same name is Malaysia's second largest after the capital of Kuala Lumpur. The island itself is so beautiful that it is often referred to as a "Pearl of the East." You arrive at the airport on the southern side of the island after a 40-minute flight from Kuala Lumpur. From there, a drive north of about one hour will bring you to one of the island's most famous beaches at Batu Feringgi. The resort hotels lining the roughly two kilometers of beach here are very popular with international tourists and you will always find lots of people enjoying marine sports like WaveRunner riding and parasailing. In the evening tourists enjoy the colorful stalls lining the beach road selling things like fruits and local ethnic crafts.
You can rent one of the popular WaveRunner XL700 models from the private rental operators on the beach, after making sure that they offer proper instruction in operation and safety items and a reasonable price. Since this is also an area were many people enjoying marine sports, be careful to avoid other boats and swimmers when you ride. Be especially certain to stay clear of the boats pulling parasailers and obey the instructions of the rental operator and confine yourself to the designated riding areas as you enjoy the waters of this "Pearl of the East."
While this is another area that was struck by the tsunami at the end of 2004 caused by the earthquake off the Indonesian island of Sumatra, we are told that most of the damaged facilities have already been repaired. The area's resorts are now receiving tourists and it is back to being a lively resort area again.
When renting a PWC, be sure to abide by operating requirements and riding area regulations of the country.
PWC rental facilities are not operated by Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd., or its affiliates. Rentals are for individual use and utilized at the liability of the user.
