Date

Place
WA – Rockingham
Organizer Country
Yamaha Motor Australia Australia

The Western Australian Wave Day provided a great ending to this year’s Wave Day circuit.
The location was superb, the sun shone and the crowds were out.
Enthusiasm was overflowing with the anticipation of S1 challenge and curiosity high with the new 2007 models available to try.
The record numbers highlighted the passion WA has for PWC’s
Registration started early. In all 66 contestants and ‘come and try’ riders participated.
After my introduction, Bruce Bailey, a Fisheries & Marine officer with the Dept. of Fisheries, gave a talk on the local laws pertaining to PWC users.
In the next, Shane, from Fremantle Yamaha, gave a talk on craft maintenance.
The day was well supported from the dealer net work. This is Estuary Marine, who had’ ‘on land’ displays and craft in the water to ‘come and try’.

The S1 was spectacular with the top riders ’jostling’ for pole position.
Last minute adjustments ensure that the craft are in peak condition.
The overall winner of the S1 does a ‘drive by’ Paul Vaccaro on his ‘worked’ GP1200, with a record time of 20.91 seconds.
After the lunch, the riders start to congregate in preparation for the treasure hunt.
For all those who contributed to the safe, effective and professional way in which the Wave Day was set up and run- I thank you very much! This includes, Deon & the H2O team, YMA staff, especially Rex Burdus ( WA Marine sales Manager), John Prince ( Service Manager), Drew Swinton ( YMF Manager), and the attending dealers, Fremantle Yamaha, Estuary Marine and Jet Power Boat Shop.
Comment of the day, by Paul Vaccaro, S1 Champion:

“Most manufactures just take your money, at least Yamaha gives something back.”
