The venue for the Victorian Wave Day was the National Water Sports Centre in Carrum. The site is ‘man made’, 2 Kms long, of which we had access to 1Km.
We were able to use the site after negotiating with George Marquis, from The Victorian Jet Sport Boating Association, to share the day with their club day.
We invited club members to participate, whether riding a Sea Doo or Kawasaki.
A ‘common theme’ for the Wave Days seems to be a storm on the previous night. Initially that may have held some people back, but as the day progressed the participants swelled to a record numbers.
By the end of the day we had 47 registrants to ride craft. We had a total of 30 Yamaha’s, with club members also using other brands’ crafts. In total there was 110 visitors to the event.
A regular occurrence at the Wave Days is focusing on safety. Whilst talking about it we also distribute information for people to take home.
The S1 was the most ‘hotly’ contested to date. Although any brands of craft were able to run the course, it was only the Wave Runners that were eligible for prizes. This ensured that the other brands riders tried the Yamaha’s.
To promote the new VX Cruiser and to get people to try it, we ran a VX Cruiser Challenge. To win prizes in this challenge a racer had to use our demo craft and run the S1 circuit. Using the same craft ensured that ‘skill’ would be the winning factor.

In the afternoon, the crafts congregate ready to take directions to the ‘treasure hunt’. That has become the most popular event, as young and old can join in on the fun.
Prize giving concluded a very successful day with a number of people going home with a prize and all leaving having enjoyed the day.
For all those who contributed to the safe, effective and professional way in which the Wave Day was set up and run – I thank you very much! This includes, Jack, Dion & the H20 team, YMA staff, especially John & Robin from the VIC office and the attending dealers, JV Marine, Frankston Yamaha & Streaker Boats, also, George Marquis from the Victorian Jet Sport Boating Association.
