NSW Waveday

New South Wales , Australia

Queensland's Gold Coast was the venue as the first Yamaha WaveDay for season 2005/2006 kicked off at the weekend.

Despite the continual down-pour which kept numbers down, the New South Wales Wave Day ended up a great success.

Twenty-six hardy wave riders braved the conditions on the day, and were rewarded with all the usual WaveDay treats, like the S1 challenge, a one-hour tour of Lake Macquarie, new model "come and try” and the General Care and Maintenance discussion, led by Michael Buttigies from Jet 1 - Sydney.

The S-1 circuit proved as popular as ever, with all registrants taking part. The two most popular craft were the GP1300R and the XLT1200.

The 1-hour tour of Lake Macquarie featured an extra element of adventure when the group was caught in a heavy rain storm, with limited visibility, but all tour riders returned safely, having enjoyed some great wave jumping at the lake's entrance.

The Fun Educational Play Zone gave the opportunity for riders to try out the new 2006 models such as the FX160 Cruiser and GP1300R. It also introduced new people to PWC riding an opportunity to “come and try”.

The rain may have prevented a few riders from coming, but it didn"t prevent any participants from remaining until the end, and their enthusiasm and enjoyment of the day was obvious.

Sincere thanks to Jack and the H20 team, WaveRunner dealers Jet 1 and Stoney Creek, and the YMA staff especially Alex, Grant and Rodney for a formidable effort.
