AT LAST AN EVENT WITH GOOD WEATHER BUT.........NO S1
On Sunday the 6th of July we had another Yamaha tour, this time in Valada village, along the Tagus River.
It was organized this time by the Jet Center in Salvaterra de magos - MOTOFOLE, LDA, also a Yamaha motorcycle and ATV dealer.
When we left Lisbon (Valada is 100Km far form Lisbon) we were worried about the weather and how things would happen but when we arrived the meeting place, the sun and Tagus River were promising a very good day. And, it was!!!
We started preparing that Slalom and everything necessary in these events.
A tent, a board for the times and positions of the Slalom, Slalom banners, as usual and where ever Yamaha is present.
The tour started around 11.00a.m.and we all participated.
There were about 25 waverunners and over more than 56 people.
Following the guide (Mr. Paulo Cardoso from Motofole) we had the chance to see different places along the Tagus River including several navigable channels.
Small villages like; Azambuja, Benavente e Salvaterra presently having small marinas with pontoons.
In Salvaterra de Magos we had a very tasty kind buffet lunch in a beautiful courtyard of the scouts head-office of the village (region of Portugal very well known by the wine and bulls).
At the time we had to return to Valada and place where the S1 was ready, we had a "small" obstacle...the tide was low, actually very low.... so low we had to walk pulling the waverunners (bottom of the river was full of mud), otherwise we could not leave
This was a very tough "trial" but everyone good tempered.
Due to this , we took a while to get back and when everyone arrived it was already 5 p.m.It was completely impossible the held the Yamaha Slalom Grand prix because due to the low tide the buoyies moved and the S1 circuit was "ruined".
The participators were a bit unhappy , especially those we came mainly to participate on the S1.
One more tour was over. In spite of some "obstacles" and without the YAMAHA SLALOM GRAND PRIX the wish is to continue promoting this tours near all the waverunners' lovers, because above everything we are talking about a very healthy event and we must show to the most ceptic ones that waverunners are a very good reason to have fun.
The next S1 will take place in September.
