IN SPITE OF ALL THE RAIN THE YAMAHA SLALOM CHEERED UP THE DAY
The 2nd 2003/04 Yamaha Slalom Grand Prix event took place in the center of Portugal, more precisely in Figueira da Foz (near the Mondego river).
The event named 2nd Tour Filipe Motoshow - Yamaha Jet Center in Leiria, took place on the 1st June (Sunday) and everyone went up the Mondego river in Figueira da Foz till the Montemor villa, then leaving the river to the sea all the way to Buarcos' beach.
All the about 60 water vehicles participating navigated in the calm waters of the river Mondego (which is the biggest river headed and disembogue in Portugal) but also on the salt waters and quite rough of the Atlantic Ocean.
Afterwards, all the water vehicles went ahead the Cabedelo beach with a protected small bay where the IJSBA Slalom circuit was mounted.
Several tents brightening the beach, as well as succulent "spitted pork", for the barbecue.
Soon after the lunch weather, which until then was already unstable (cloudy and windy), got worse and, rain started to fall very strongly.
Therefore, the afternoon activities including Test Drives with the new models (GP1300R; FX140; FXCruiser; GP800R); inflatable and the Yamaha Slalom Grand Prix, only this last one was happened.
With the backup with vocal equipment the "resistant ones" of the day still cheered up the afternoon with excellent results. The sea conditions were not the best with some waves, but everything went well with some falls near surrounding the buoys .
The prizes ceremony was cancelled due to the rain that was even stronger. The prizes for the 3 first places of each class were given later. |
